Japanese Kitchen

Before Doma Café in Federal became a globally acclaimed eatery (even praised by The New York Times), it began humbly at the Mullumbimby Farmers Market. Back then, chefs Takayuki Kuramoto and Takashi Yaguchi ran The Japanese Kitchen stall, blending market-fresh produce with Japanese flair.

Though Doma has since taken off, Takayuki continues to run the original stall — out of respect for where it all started. You’ll still find the now-legendary temaki sushi cones every Friday, filled with combos like sautéed mushrooms & olives, pumpkin tempura, haloumi cheese, free-range egg omelette, or salmon sashimi. Many are vegetarian or gluten free, and in winter there’s hearty miso soup to warm your soul.

Local, seasonal, and delicious — just like it’s always been
