The quality and variety of fresh seasonal produce grown in the area and the gourmet food and beverages being produced locally make us the envy of the world.

The Mullumbimby Farmers Market is the perfect place to pick up this year’s Christmas feast – nudgelnutsweb and to grab some gifts for your foodie friends. Here’s just a small selection of what’s on offer:

For the perfect cheese platter, put together a selection of cheeses from Nimbin Valley Dairy or Cheeses Loves You. Add some fresh dips from The Spice Palace or Baraka Foods and serve with Mumma Raws’   delicious raw onion and fennel bread or fresh crusty sourdough from Heart Breads or Crabbes Creek Woodfired. Top it off with some fresh or dried olives from Grumpy Grandma’s and macadamia nuts from Rainforest Foods or Nudgel Nuts .

Hayters Hill farm and Byron Bay Pork  produce top quality Christmas hams and roasts, while Byron Creek Farm  has pastured free-range chickens that weigh in at two kilos and up, making them big enough for the Christmas table. Brunswick Seed Oysters has locally farmed Sydney rock oysters, and JJ Seafood has fresh seafood and prawns caught fresh off the Ballina coast (buy early and freeze to avoid the Christmas rush).

Cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce and leafy greens, basil, capsicum, sweet corn, beans, carrots, zucchini, potatoes, pumpkin are some of the veggies in season and available at the markets for Christmas, or make a fresh fruit platter with passionfruit, blueberries, apples, bananas, dragonfruit, papaya, rockmelon and watermelon.tshirts

A hamper of local food is the perfect Christmas present.

Grab a basket and add some goodies from the markets like choc or honey coated macadamias from Rainforest Foods or Nudgel Nuts, local coffee beans from Myocum Coffee or Nashua Valley Organics, home made pickles and sauces from Not Just A Tart, Coopers Shoot Tomatoes , The Salad Hut, or Church Farm, local honey from The Honey Wagon, bush food spices, jams and teas from native food stall Playing With Fire, hemp seeds from Hemp Foods Australia, beeswax candles from Happy Flame or raw chocolate and fudge from Puremelt Chocolate.

Our brilliant shopping bags, caps and t-shirts (adults and kids), available from the manager’s tent, also make a great Christmas pressy.IMG_4336
