Make mum’s day

mothersday

Spoil your mum with the local roses, hand made beeswax candles, natural soaps and foodie gifts available at the Mullumbimby Farmers Market.

The farmers market may not be the first place you’d think to visit when shopping for a Mothers Day gift, but you’d surprised by just how many treasures you can find at the Mullumbimby Farmers Market.

Alongside all the fresh fruit and vegies, there are a whole host of locally grown and crafted, unique, practical and eco-friendly gifts that any mum would love.

For something out of the ordinary, check out the chopping boards from Le Chop. Made from local camphor laurel – a timber that infuses the boards with anti-bacterial qualities- these beautifully made boards last a lifetime.

A little further along the market, you’ll find the colourful Happy Flame stall, which sells beautiful handcrafted organic and non-toxic local beeswax candles and lanterns. They produce a lovely honey aroma when lit.

For a classic Mothers Day gift with a twist, visit the Puremelt Chocolate stall, where Sarah Wheeler produces raw, organic, gluten free, guilt free vegan chocolates that are just as good for you as they are delicious.

If you want to give mum some flowers, skip the big retailers – who often import from overseas – and grab some locally grown roses or gerberas from Jumping Red Ant or Glenyce Creighton, or a potted orchid from Lily Liz.

At the Church Farm stall, you’ll find some gorgeous soaps, hand made by Billinudgel couple Amanda Callan and Andrew Morris. Free from the harsh chemicals, synthetic fragrances and dyes you find in many soaps, they are made with natural plant-based oils, natural clays, real botanicals and essential oils.

If your mum’s a foodie the choices are endless. Infused olive oils and dried olives from Grumpy Grandma’s; choc-coated macadamias and macadamia butter from Rainforest Foods or Organic Forrest; home-made jams and relishes from The Salad Hut or Not Just a Tart; Playing With Fire’s bush food jams and cordials; and locally grown and roasted coffee are just some of the yummy local treats you could spoil her with.

Save on the wrapping paper and pop it all in one of the market’s sturdy reusable bags for a gift Mum will truly appreciate.
